Graham was delighted to welcome Jane Ellison MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health, to Weaver Vale to share with her some of the community enterprises that make Northwich such a fantastic place to live.
Graham said: "Cheshire Community Development Trust was founded as the Northwich and District Council of Social Service in 1922, and it continues to provided invaluable social services across Cheshire more than 80 years on. I was very pleased to show the Minister the Dial-a-Ride services which help so many people who find using public transport difficult across the Northwich, Frodsham and Winsford areas. I took a trip on the service myself last month and spoke with many of the users who explained how Cheshire CDT provide a lifeline to them.
"The Minister also joined me in a visit to Hartford to visit Age UK’s ‘Men in Sheds’ scheme. Cheshire Age UK is the UK’s largest provider of the Men In Sheds projects, currently running four Men In Sheds schemes across Cheshire. Cheshire Age UK is working in partnership with our local private sector to grow & diversify the scheme to allow even more people to engage with the projects. Each “Shed” provides a unique space where older men can come together to work on manual projects to promote good health & healthy living, contribute to the wider community, learn new skills, and build their social connections.
"I was exceptionally proud to show the Minister how these local projects, and the people who make them happen, support the wellbeing of people across Weaver Vale."
