Graham learnt about the UK’s impact on malaria, and how 16,000 lives a day are saved thanks to British action, as part of World Health Day.
Graham said: “The 'Getting Malaria?' event, hosted by charity Malaria No More UK and the All Party Parliamentary Group for Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases, gave me an opportunity to find out more about the huge difference being made to millions of people around the world thanks to UK leadership and increased global action to save lives from malaria.
"Malaria is one of the world’s most deadly yet preventable diseases. UK action against malaria has helped drive an outstanding global effort, which is now saving over 1600 lives every day from malaria.
“In parts of Africa, malaria is responsible for around half of the deaths of all schoolchildren. If this happened in the UK there would be uproar. I hope people across Weaver Vale will join me in supporting UK leadership in the global fight against malaria and be heartened to know what a tangible difference UK aid is making. As we help save lives, we are also helping release young children to gain an education and to have the chance to fulfill their potential”.
