Graham visited Asda Runcorn where he met store manager Cordelia Nicholas, Asda Community Life Champion Dee Samuel, as well as Asda customers.
Asda’s Community Life scheme aims to put its stores at the heart of their local communities, including opening up their doors for use by community groups and fundraising for local good causes. The event provided staff and customers with the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics with Graham.
Graham said: “Visiting Asda in Runcorn was a great opportunity to learn about the Community Life scheme and how they interact with local families about the issues that matter to them.
“I was very pleased to be able to meet with constituents to discuss how measures announced that week in the Budget will help lower the cost of living. These include increasing the Personal Allowance to £10,500 which will mean lower taxes for around 33,863 people here in Weaver Vale, a freeze on fuel duty which will make filling your car 20% cheaper than plans under the previous government, a drop in beer duty and the abolition of the alcohol duty escalator.
“As a Government we are working to ensure that the economic recovery benefits everyone, so it was particularly useful to see and hear first-hand how families are managing their household finances and their level of optimism for the future.”
