Today I had the chance to revisit two exceptional volunteer organisations: St Luke's Hospice shop in Hartford and the Grozone Community Garden Project Northwich.
The Northwich Grozone Community Garden Project is working towards its vision of providing a safe, accessible and welcoming outdoor space for the local community to enjoy and join in activities that can include growing food and learning about nutrition and health. I met Jane Staley, Groundwork Cheshire’s Executive Director, to show me around the project and provide me with a shovel so I could get stuck with the action.
It’s incredibly rewarding being in the great outdoors and knowing you are contributing to something for the whole community.

I then moved on to learn about the variety of ways St Luke’s Hospice is supported by its volunteers. I recently visited the Hospice to celebrate their 25th anniversary but this time I want to find out more about the work that volunteers do to help keep the Hospice running. I visited the Hartford shop and coffee shop to find out how the volunteers there process and deal with donations, as well as meeting with the Coffee Shop volunteers.
Not only do these shops raise funds, but they also raise awareness of the Hospice and its invaluable work.
