Theresa Villiers MP, Rail Minister, is set to announce plans to designate the service between Manchester and Chester via Northwich as a ‘community rail service’. Residents and community groups will be given a greater say in how the line is run, helping to improve local trains and ensure that they play a greater role in meeting local transport needs.
The proposals affect local passengers at Lostock Gralam, Northwich, Greenbank and Cuddington stations.
Graham said: 'This is a great opportunity to give local people a real say in how their rail services are run. Passengers are already well-represented by the Mid-Cheshire Rail Users' Association and the Community Rail Partnership, and this is a terrific chance to build on the excellent work they do and create a rail service that meets the needs of the local community'
