Graham took part in a series of events around Liverpool to commemorate the Battle of the Atlantic including speaking live to BBC Radio Merseyside's Andy Ball and Linda McDermott.
Graham said: “The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest continuous military campaign in World War Two, from mid-1940 through to the end of 1943. Liverpool was the destination of many wartime Atlantic convoys and home of the Western Approaches Command.
“The whole Merseyside area, including of Weaver Vale, contributed to a vital battle which helped the Allied Forces win.
“I am very proud to have opportunity to meet with people whose bravery played such an important part in the Second World War and have this chance to commemorate how important the North West was in bringing an end to World War Two.”
