Today Graham raised the subject of dementia care in the House of Commons. “This is a subject close to my heart,” said Graham. “This brutal disease affects so many people across the country – the sufferers and of course those caring for them day in day out.”
One of my constituents, Gladys Archer has started a campaign for better facilities in hospitals for dementia sufferers who are admitted because of an unrelated medical condition. I am very proud to be supporting this campaign. At present, dementia sufferers are often admitted onto busy, noisy, general wards. This can unsettle those with dementia and be extremely detrimental to them. I was pleased today to speak about some of the initiatives happening, such as dementia friendly towns, to help those with dementia. However, there is still much more to be done, and Gladys and I shall continue to call for it.”
