Graham Evans, MP for Weaver Vale, has just taken on his 15000th case. “I’m here to help local people,” explained Graham, “Of course there are big campaigns I take on such as my #SaferM56 campaign but as well as this, I help individuals with specific issues or concerns on a case by case basis.”
This figure works out at over 2500 individual cases each year since Graham’s election in May 2010 and over 52 new cases each week. “I have always said that one of my main jobs in this role is that of helping people and to be as accessible to people as possble,” continued Graham. “People come to me via my regular help and advice surgeries which I hold at different places throughout the constiutuency or my supermarket surgeries, or indeed simply by emailing, writing in or phoning. If you have a problem or concern I can help with, please do get in contact and I’ll do my utmost to help. Obviously, I couldn’t do this alone, and I have a great team helping me!”
Each case is treated entirely confidentially, and can be on a huge variety of issues such as tax problems involving the HM Revenue and Customs Department, problems dealt with by the Department for Work and Pensions such as benefits, pensions and National Insurance, problems dealt with by the Home Office, such as immigration, problems dealt with by the Department of Health, such as hospitals and problems dealt with by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, such as school closures and grants.
