Graham supported International Women’s Day 2014 by inviting Hartford High School pupil, Megan Calland, to visit Parliament and find out more about the roles women can play in politics.
Graham said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to encourage young women to think about how politics affects them and how they can engage in it.
“The young women who took part in the event came from across the county to meet their MPs, visit Number 10, as well as learning about day to day life in Westminster and listening to Secretary of State, Maria Miller, talking about life in politics.
“When we think about politics it can seem like a male dominated world - International Women’s Day is a very important project as part of the ongoing battle to change that.
“There are many different ways that we can all be involved in politics - not just as politicians - and I sincerely hope that day has given inspiration and encouragement to think about democracy in a very different way.
“I was delighted to welcome Megan to Westminster, and also have the chance to introduce her to Mr Speaker, who is a strong and vocal supporter of the Parliagender equality scheme.”
