Our local MP has been made Breast Cancer Ambassador for Weaver Vale by Breast Cancer Now. This is the country’s largest breast cancer charity and was created through the merger of Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
“At the moment we are at the tipping point with breast cancer,” explained Graham, “More women are surviving but more are being diagnosed than ever before. Breast Cancer Now charity is totally dedicated to funding research into this disease, we can beat this, but it must be kept on the agenda. As an MP, I see it as one of my responsibilities to ensure that we are talking about breast cancer and that we continue the fight. 12000 women in the UK will die from secondary breast cancer this year. That’s 12000 mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, friends. As such I am extremely honoured to have been made Breast Cancer Ambassador for our area, and I will make sure this we keep this in the agenda so that we can bring real and lasting change for women and their families across the whole country.”
Graham is a great supporter of breast cancer awareness taking part in the Wear it Pink campaign and other events.
“I’m delighted to be able to work with Breast Cancer Now so together we can improve the way we prevent, detect, treat and ultimately stop breast cancer. "
