With around 40 companies and organisations now confirmed to attend this year’s Fair – it’s set to be the biggest yet!
“This is one of the highlights of my year,” said Graham, “I’m absolutely passionate about getting people into work – whether they are looking to re-enter the workplace or indeed are trying to get their first foot on the jobs ladder. Bringing employers and local people together in one room helps get more people into jobs, training and apprenticeship schemes, which means more people with the security of a pay packet and the ability to plan for the future.”
The latest batch of employers to confirm includes international engineering company Seimens, local manufacturer Fine Décor, Peel Holdings, Halton Borough Council and University College Chester.
There will be various workshops throughout the event on CV skills writing, interview skills and lectures on the importance of apprenticeships which will be useful for budding apprentices and employers alike! Local Professional Development Coach, Beverly Grant from Realms of Possibility will be leading a workshop entitled “Get that job – how to succeed in interviews”.
This is a free event and runs from 10am until 3pm – the sole purpose is to help people get into work or training. Last year’s Fair saw a local Hartford man land a dream role with the British Army as well as the recruitment of various apprenticeships.
“Apprenticeships play a vital role in our work force,” said Graham, “Many of the companies attending run excellent apprenticeship schemes and when you speak to apprentices you understand just how rewarding that experience is.”
IBM apprentice, Dominic Day, describes the personal benefits of his apprenticeship as being almost endless. “These include being paid to learn, having real responsibilities from day one and allowing me to develop rapidly as a professional in the work place from a young age.”
So if you are looking for a career change, to get back into work or indeed to land your first job – come to Mid Cheshire College on February 18th between 10am and 3pm – all welcome!
